Denise DeMarchis started her own multi-level marketing company in Fort Wayne, Indiana, in 2006. This company is all about selling women’s and girl’s clothing as well as some household goods.
You can do more than just shop for a dress or home gadget at Matilda Jane. Are you looking to become a paid marketer for Matilda Jane? And is it really worth your time to promote this MLM company? Let’s dive into my Matilda Jane MLM review.
The Matilda Jane Process:
Clothing is sold by trunk keepers, who are essentially distributors. As in most MLMs, you would make sales by getting someone to plan a party. In exchange for hosting the event, the host would be eligible to receive a gift. Any sales made during the event are sent directly to the company, where they will be handled and given to the customer.
Who Is Jane?
Someone who hosts a Matilda show is known as a “Jane”. The quantity of sales from the show would determine whether Jane, the host, received a discount or free merchandise. Sadly, the discounts can be improved. Your event must generate at least $300 in sales in order to receive a discount of 50% on one item. You must sell a lot of dresses to get 50% off on something, right?
Can You Profit From Matilda Jane?
Profiting from Matilda Jane could be a bit challenging. You aren’t actually selling something distinctive as a trunk keeper. The competition is quite extensive. You may buy these clothes online, such as on eBay or Amazon. They might be cheaper, too.
Pros and Cons To Marketing With Matilda Jane
Nearly everything in life has pros and cons. There are a number of pros and cons to the Matilda Jane program, too.
Pros:
- A 20% commission is yours to keep on any product.
- Products can be sold anywhere in the US and Canada.
- You’ll receive one-on-one help and complimentary training.
- There is a vast assortment of toys, household goods, and women’s and children’s clothing.
Cons:
- In addition to the initial kit cost, you also need to purchase a seasonal kit each time a new line of clothing is released.
- To become a trunk keeper, you must deposit $300 by credit. There is also no refund on the $300 payment.
- I apologize. Facebook doesn’t accept advertisements. You cannot make your own advertisements for promotion.
- If you wish to be a Trunk Keeper, you must also purchase a trunk at the beginning price of every selling season.
- You have to keep your monthly sales at least $1500 in order to stay in.
- You will have to send a letter to Matilda Jane and pay Federal Express to convey the notice if you want to give up on the trunk-keeper affair.
- Matilda Jane may keep billing you for commission refunds from customer exchanges or returns even after your termination.
- This is solely for commission. You can only make money by keeping a portion of the sales proceeds from apparel and home products. Earnings are not guaranteed.
So there are obviously many disadvantages compared to the advantages of this opportunity.
Is Matilda Jane Legitimate Or A Scam?
The problem with multilevel marketing (MLM) is that it seems respectable, but in reality, you are effectively operating as an affiliate or distributor to sell someone else’s goods in exchange for commissions. But let’s think about that for a minute. You only make money from sales. There is no hourly rate in this case. That means you might labor like a dog and invest an immense amount of money and time in convincing people to buy products from Matilda Jane, all knowing that there might not be any sales at all in the end.
The other concern with MLMs is that you incur significant upfront costs. Before you ever make plans to have someone throw a party, you must purchase your kit and all of your initial items in advance.
Additionally, in order to receive a portion of their earnings as additional money, you will need to find others to sponsor.
My Concluding Statements:
MLMs are brilliant at using catchphrases like “these products are so good, they sell themselves” to make their goods seem glitzy and simple to sell. You must have heard that before, I suppose.
The amount of work you must devote to your business if you want to make even small commissions is something they neglect to convey. If you need a full-time income, you likely have no time to finish this lengthy process. Not to mention the significant upfront cost.
You aren’t offering your prospective customers with anything special when you sell Matilda Jane goods because they can purchase them from other websites like Zulily, Amazon, or eBay in addition to the Matilda Jane general website.
In summary, Matilda Jane is a legitimate online business, but it will cost a lot of money to run. One of the hazards is having to keep up a minimum level of revenue each month. You are going to be removed if you don’t. There are no refunds whatsoever if you choose to leave or are removed.
There are alternative program options available that are more affordable and considerably simpler. I came upon one that speaks of advertising for multiple brands. It is possible for you to receive a portion of the sales that the merchant makes. There are no intentions to discontinue this program; it has been in place for many years.
