So, what exactly is Herbalife? Herbalife is an online distributor service that allows you to acquire a selection of health supplements for weight loss or general wellness. If you’re familiar with weight-loss protein shakes, for example, they offer a product called Prolessa® Duo. It is a protein drink that will help you control your appetite and burn fat.
They also provide products for overall health improvement. Formula 2 Multivitamin Complex is a vitamin that they sell. It is intended to nourish you and support your cellular metabolic activity. You can visit the Herbalife website to learn about various products for weight loss and other health supplements.
You can also become a distributor for Herbalife. It’s an ordinary multi-level marketing platform in which they promise you can make money by referring others. You would promote Herbalife to people you know or to the general public by advertising their goods and distributor program in the hope that they would join under you. You will receive a percentage of their commission if they join through you and sell a product. But is it possible to make a living using Herbalife? Stay tuned for my personal Herbalife MLM review.
Could You Find The Products Cheaper Elsewhere?
Herbalife appears to feature a wide range of weight loss and general health items. Their pricing, however, look to be quite on the high side. If you search Amazon for health and weight reduction vitamins, you might find cheaper options for the same function.
Amazon has a comparable product for half the price. Orgain Organic Protein Powder is the product’s title, and it costs roughly $27.00. It comes in a 2-pound carton. According to Amazon reviews, the Herbalife powder only lasts two weeks. The container has a weight of 26.4 oz. This powder drink costs roughly $40. Both products produce comparable results.
That will make it difficult to sell through Herbalife. As you can see, Amazon has similar products with the same results for a much cheaper price.
The Herbalife Distributor Membership Price
If you decide to become a distributor for Herbalife, you will have two options. You may purchase the International Business Pack for a one-time charge of $94.10 or the International Business Pack-Super Starter for a one-time charge of $124.10. If you decide not to continue and withdraw from their program, you have up to twelve months to put in a refund request.
There are other assumed costs associated with being a distributor for Herbalife. You should figure costs such as your time and labor, phone expenses relating to your calls for business, and gasoline expenses to your customers locations for meetings or product distributions. So add these costs to your membership expenses.
Can You Make a Living With Herbalife?
You must sell Herbalife goods and promote the Herbalife program to earn money as a distributor with Herbalife. To earn money from a product as a distributor, you must first purchase it from Herbalife at a discount of 25% off the retail price. Then, at full retail price, sell it to your consumer. You then earn the 25% commission on the product discount. Of course, in order to earn more money, you will need to recruit more distributors.
However, making a living as a vendor or distributor can be challenging. You can get a sense of what you will be averaging as a distributor by looking at the Herbalife chart of typical monthly gross profits. As can be seen, the majority of members are in the 50% range. They just make additional income on average. To make a reasonable living with Herbalife, you would need to be at least in the top ten sellers ranks.
So my conclusion would be that it will take a lot of time, effort, and patience to get to the top ten. You will also need to acquire good selling skills to make this program work for you.
Pros and Cons For Earning a Living With Herbalife
Pros:
- You have full control of your own schedule. You may choose to work full-time, part-time, or just make it a hobby, if you wish. You may work any time you wish.
- You may withdraw from your membership program within a twelve-month period. All unopened products may be returned and you will receive a full refund.
- There is no need to invest in any tools before becoming a distributor.
- Minimum monthly purchases are not necessary or required for the distributorship program.
Cons:
- There is no FDA approval for any of the Herbalife products.
- Herbalife products are priced on the high side. There are alternatives, like Amazon, to buy similar health products from. That makes it difficult to earn income or make a living with Herbalife.
- Herbalife holds an A- rating according to the BBB. The star rating was only two and a quarter, which is not appealing. There aren’t many herbalife distributor reviews, but they’re insightful. Customers who ordered the products had mixed thoughts about them. Also, the distributors who published various herbalife distributor reviews were clearly dissatisfied.
- There have been lawsuits filed against Herbalife for misrepresentation. Here is another lawsuit filed against Herbalife. There are other cases, but I did not research them.
Is Herbalife A Scam?
Herbalife, in my opinion, is NOT a scam. However, due to the exorbitant product pricing and the extreme difficulty of making a living with this type of business, I would skip the opportunity. It will take a lot of effort to reach the top-selling position. Furthermore, this market may already be saturated. Making a living using Herbalife seems improbable to me. It could be beneficial for side jobs or earning a little extra revenue. But I would not choose to be a Herbalife distributor and expect to generate a living from it.
My Advisement
So my general thoughts about considering this line of business are that it would be very difficult to earn a living. Most members are only averaging Between $190 and $300 per month. So it is fine for supplemental income. The only way you will earn a living, or even a very decent living, is to be in their top 10% distributor level or their top 1% distributor level, respectively. In my opinion, it will take years of experience and dedication selling Herbalife products and recruiting other distributors to begin earning any amount of significant income.
